Micrograzer Foundation is our tried and tested soil blend. Soil is both a habitat and a food source for isopods (and other soil-dwelling creatures), so we developed Micrograzer Foundation with long-term success and fundamental isopod husbandry requirements in mind. We developed a hardwood-based and leaf litter based substrate that is supplemented with two sources of calcium in the form of limestone and oyster shells. We added the right amount of lava to promote aeration, and biochar to mitigate fungus.
Coniferous saps are known to be harmful to isopods and other detrivores, so Micrograzer Foundation contains no coniferous tree substances, such as those known as fir bark, pine bark, and orchid bark.
