Cubaris murina is an active species that is a great starting point if you are just starting out with isopods. You will enjoy watching these isopods roam all day. They are easy-to-keep, unfussy eaters, but feed them fruit and they’ll go nuts over it. Instead of rolling up into a ball, they seem to prefer dashing around. Watch how fast they are!
Little Sea isopods as they are commonly called, are a smaller species, at about half an inch. They enjoy a humid environment, as is typical for cubaris species. While most people use them as a clean-up crew for humid vivaria, like those with dart frogs, we think they deserve a chance as a hobby isopod in an Isopod Lodge or other small enclosure.
