Japanese Magic Potion Isopods

Like all Armadillidium vulgare, the magic potion morph makes for a cool pet with its bright witch-brew-like spots. Their shiny white base color makes them stand out against a typical vivarium background with earth tones. Magic Potion isopods grow to a little under an inch and should be kept like other Armadillidium vulgare. That means a fairly dry (for isopods) environment with (cork) bark pieces or rotting wood, leaf litter, and a smaller area (about 20% off the enclosure) with damp sphagnum moss. Because Magic Potion isopods prefer drier conditions, they won’t do so well as a clean up crew in tropical vivaria, such as those with dart frogs or vampire crabs.
