Armadillidium klugii ‘Montenegro Pudding’ isopods are a morph of the classic, highly robust Armadillidium klugii ‘Montenegro’ species. Often times referred to as simply ‘Armadillidium klugii ‘Pudding’ these roly polies enjoy warmer temperatures and can tolerate a somewhat drier environment. Like all klugii species, they grow to about 0.5 inch as an adult. Armadillidium klugii ‘Montenegro Pudding’ are very prolific and beginner-friendly as long as a humidity gradient from humid to dry is provided. If our Isopod Lodge setup instructions are followed, they will do great. We observe them exploring their habitats quite boldly, making them a fine choice for a display animal or desk pet.
We’ve noticed Armadillidium klugii are much more interested in rotting wood and leaves than they are in fruit and protein. We suggest to limit the amount of fresh food to avoid mold or seed the enclosure with springtails to eat food leftovers.
